Mochila Wayuu

The Wayuu, an indigenous community located on the La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia, have a rich cultural tradition of weaving and crocheting. From a young age, Wayuu women are taught these intricate skills, which have been passed down through generations. The creation and sale of their handcrafted items serve as a vital source of income for the community. Each bag, a true masterpiece, requires 2 to 4 weeks to complete and showcases a unique combination of colors and designs. These woven and crocheted creations are not only practical but also a significant expression of the Wayuu’s cultural heritage.
